Hi, My name is Becky and I want to share with you a rhyme that is appealing and just one step up from Peek-A-Boo. Monsters have this perennial attraction for children who are learning to cope with their own fears and this rhyme has some empowering language. The pre-reading skill “Print Motivation” is about using words and language that feed the interests of children.
With big brown eyes (Circle eyes with thumb and finger)
And fuzzy wuzzy hair. (Indicate hair with fingers wriggling)
A big loud, BOO!” (Cup hands when you say Boo.)
But I’m not scared. (Point to self and shake head.)
Behind this mask, (Put two hands together up flat to cover face)
You will see—(Peek to one side)
This monster is—(Peek to the other side)
Really only ME! (Open hands wide and show face.)
Have fun being monsters!
